What Makes Acre, Acre? Introducing Our Core Values
How would you describe yourself in three words? This is the exact question we asked ourselves for several months as we tried to define our core values.
There were many things we knew to be true. Our employees are dedicated, hardworking, and passionate. We care about customer satisfaction, quality results, and innovation in design. We viewed our team as a family, and coming to work every day is a privilege. But that’s more than three words, right?
After much discussion, we are proud to announce Acre’s core values: Intention, Grit, and Cultivate. More importantly, we wanted to give you a little insight into what this means for us and how this fits our company.

Intentionality In Everything We Do
We believe in being proactive. Our first core value, “Intention,” reflects our desire to be purposeful and deliberate in everything we do. As a landscaping and design company, we get many requests for similar projects: outdoor firepits, ponds, masonry, fountains, exterior lighting, patios, kitchens, florals, and more. Each project, though, is unique.
We want to express our intention for originality and customization. Not only do we want to know what our customers want, but why they want it. This provides greater insight when creating the perfect outdoor space for each home or business.
Even our logo displays intention. Our famous “Acre pink” is one of the ways we want to stand out.
This intentionality is one of the things that makes Acre, Acre.
Our Employees Have Grit
We want our employees to be known for the strength of their character. We have a team of professional, hard-working, creative, and committed people following through on every project. Our employees are an excellent reflection of our core values.
When we think of “Grit,” we think of Frederick Speed. He understands the importance of hard work, professionalism, and client/customer relations. His truck and equipment are always in excellent shape, and all of his customers love him. We asked one of our managers to tell us why Fred is a perfect example of our employees’ grit.
“I’ve never personally asked Fred, but I can almost guarantee he returns home each evening satisfied at his work because he’s taken care of his customer, has done his job, and done it well. Our profession is not an easy one, especially in the summer heat and humidity. Fred isn’t 20 years old either, yet he shows up without fail for the weekly grind. He is a leader amongst our team, not necessarily vocally, but through his daily actions at the shop and out in the field. He is a one-of-a-kind individual, and I am very grateful to have worked alongside him over many years. We need many more people in our communities with Fred’s attitude and work ethic.”
And Fred isn’t the only one. We have an entire group of people we could recognize for their character and attitudes! Daily displays of grit are one of the things that make Acre, Acre.
Cultivating the Best Environment
Cultivating has a double meaning for us. As landscapers, we are quite literally cultivating your yard and soil for the beautiful growth of flowers, shrubs, and other plants. Our lawn care and maintenance division is dedicated to cultivating a healthy, green lawn. When building hardscapes, we want to work hard in preparing a space that will provide rest, fun times with family and friends, community, beauty, and more.
We also value cultivation because we want to constantly improve and develop in all aspects of our business. We want to cultivate a culture that pursues excellence, admirable qualities, and great relationships with customers.
As part of our business model, we are always seeking ways we can do better. Which products are of the highest quality? How can we innovate our process for faster project completion? Into what design opportunities can we expand? How can we ensure our employees are always developing their skills?
Cultivating the best environment -- physically and relationally -- is one of the things that makes Acre, Acre.
Working With Acre
We want everyone we come into contact with to see our display of these core values. These three characteristics: Intention, Grit, and Cultivate, are foundational in the way we do business.
